Genetic Engineering
Alumnae working in Biotech jobs
GE majors have been very successful in finding immediate employment in Biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies such as Merck, GlaxoSmithKline, Roche biomedical Laboratories, Sanofi-Pasteur. etc. Here are some of our recent graduates.Melissa Geyer
Study Coordinator at Explora BioLabs,
San Diego CA
Explora BioLabs is a contract research organization that supplies biotech and pharmaceutical companies with preclinical invivo pharmacology services. I independently lead a small research team to perform a variety of contract research projects including in-vivo efficacy, pharmacokinetics, toxicology, metabolism, infection and oncology studies. I am also the Safety Officer and coordinate and assist in public relation events and marketing. I have submitted an amendment to the FDA for an IND and have run projects for grad students of a very recent nobel laureate.
Aelén Mabillé
Quality Control (QC) Analyst I at Bayer HealthCare, Bothell, WA
I have worked in the
pharmaceutical industry since graduation in '07. I began at Sanofi Pasteur
(Swiftwater, PA) in Quality Control Raw Materials. My main responsibilities were inspection and release of raw
materials (used in vaccine production) and inspection of the final product
(i.e. packaged vaccines). The coolest aspect of that job was that I was able to
see the raw materials that went into the product and then was able to see the
final product made with the same materials that I had inspected.
My current position is also in QC Raw Materials, but I now have more responsibilities. I inspect and sample raw materials and I perform some of the chemical tests (including UV spectroscopy, FTIR, density and specific gravity, titrations, etc). We also perform TOC (Total Organic Carbon), Conductivity testing, and GC in our lab.
Olivia Koebler
