Genetic Engineering

Alumnae in Medical Fields

GE majors have been very successful in medical fields as Medical Doctors and Genetic Counselors.  Some examples include:

Deanna Hutchinson, MS, CGC

Genetic Counselor with Genzyme

I've been with Genzyme for almost 3 years. I really like my job. I like working with patients. I think I have an advantage over other genetic counselors who may not have had the focus on genetics and lab work that I did in undergrad. It definitely helps in explaining diseases and genetic testing to patients.  I love the fact that my job allows me to use the knowledge I have about genetics to help my patients.  I love science, and I also love working with people, so I have the best of both worlds in my career.

Lynn Wilson

Third Year Osteopathic Medical Student (OMS III) at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM)

I am on my clerkship rotations after completing two years of classroom work, and I am currently serving as the National Vice President of the Student Association of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (SAACOFP). I am excited to graduate in June of 2010 and I am hoping to pursue a residency program in Family Medicine.
