Cedar Crest College recognizes the promise and achievement of students in English with a number of annual scholarships and awards.
English Scholarships: Given by the English Program to incoming students who submit samples of exceptional analytical or creative writing. The English Scholarship is applied to the student's Cedar Crest tuition.
The College Writing Prize: Given by the Writing Program to students who submit exceptional papers written for their WRI 100: College Writing and WRI 2 classes.
The Senior Essay Prize in English: Given by the English Program to the senior English major who submits the best essay written for a class in the major.
The Creative Writing Awards: Given annually by Preterite, the college literary club, to the writers of the most accomplished fiction, poetry and nonfiction submitted to In Other Words, the campus literary magazine.
Margaret M. Bryant Prize: Given by the Humanities Department to the senior going on to graduate school in the field of humanities who has achieved distinction in scholarship and shows great promise.
The Humanities Prize: Given by the Humanities Department to the senior who has demonstrated outstanding and imaginative performance in the humanities.
