Alice J. Wilson, FACHE, has worked as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Business and Management since 1999, and became Assistant Professor in Fall 2006. Her background includes over 16 years of experience in health care management, with expertise in operations management, strategic planning, quality improvement, program development, budgets-cost reductions, and human resources.
She has taught courses in health care management and business, including management, marketing and e-commerce. She developed many on-line courses and is interested in making the experience of an on-line course challenging and interactive for students.
Ms. Wilson graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Dayton, Dayton, Ohio, and a Masters in Health Services Administration from The George Washington University, Washington, D.C. After completing her administrative residency at Saint Mary Hospital in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, she moved into a Vice President role there, and later at a multi-hospital system in Voorhees, New Jersey. In these roles, she enjoyed working with a mix of support and professional departments, risk management, quality improvement, medical office building management and building projects for the facilities. Additionally, she served as Acting Executive Director, responsible for overall operations for one of the facilities.
In 1995, Ms. Wilson moved into a Vice President Community Health/Program Planning/Continuing Care at Sacred Heart Hospital, Allentown, working on strategic planning initiatives, decreasing length of stay, community health programs and relationships, and developing new programs for home health care, Older Adult Behavioral Medicine, A.D.H.D. , the Diabetes Center, and Parish Nursing. Ms. Wilson’s responsibilities also included oversight for an ob/gyn and internist/hospitalist practice. In addition to her roles in the not-for-profit sector, Ms. Wilson opened and worked as Director of a for-profit M.R. I. Testing Center and as consultant to Lehigh Valley Hospital Center for Healthy Aging and Good Shepherd. In 1997, Ms. Wilson became a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives (A.C.H.E.)
Ms. Wilson is a member of the Eastern PA Health Executive Network and was a member of the New Jersey Women in Health Administration serving as President for both organizations. Ms. Wilson was awarded the 1994 Early Career Healthcare Executive Award (ACHE) and participated in the Leadership Lehigh Valley Class of 1996. She has served as a Board Member for Family and Counseling Services and the American Lung Association. She has been active in both the Kiwanis of Allentown and Kiwanis of Greater Voorhees.
Alice lives with her husband and two children. She enjoys being involved with hot shot soccer, little league t-ball, piano and Suzuki violin lessons. She also enjoys tennis, music, travel, trips to zoos and museums. Ms. Wilson loves to read, not only articles and books for classes but novels, as well. She also participates in several volunteer projects during the year.
