Concentration in
Art Criticism

Concentration in Art Criticism

This concentration within the interdisciplinary fine arts major prepares students for a career in arts criticism with an 8-credit internship in public information journalism. Students must complete the performing arts core curriculum. In addition, students must choose two from the following courses:

ART 105 Introduction to Art History I
ART 106 Introduction to Art History II
ART 200 Art of the 20th Century: 1880-1945
or
ART 210 Art of the 20th Century: 1945-present
DNC 235 History of Dance: Art Form and Social Matrix
ENG 200 Literary Analysis
ENG 233 Creative Writing: Fiction
ENG 245 Topics in World Literature
THS 201 Beginning Acting
THS 231 History of Theatre: Ancients to 17th Century
Plus 9 credits of studio art (ex. ceramics, painting, painting, printed image, sculpture, jewelry& metalsmithing)
Plus two semesters of the following courses:
MUS 120 Historical Epochs in Music (one must be contemporary)
