Denielle Andujar

Internship consisted of:  assisting with quality assurance, observing patient and group sessions, assisting with Patient Education/Resource Room, group sessions, chart review and data entry.

Lauren Bartholomew

Internship consisted of: weekly sessions with a caseworker and a therapist, reading and absorbing all client files, discussing those files with staff and supervisors; meeting the students at CHE and developing a relationship.

ACORN – Salisbury House Healthcare
Michelle Durning

Student completed client in-take interviews, collected and scored Basis 32 assessments.  She was also involved in client interaction.

KidsPeace International
Victoria Argueta

Intern was an On-Line Volunteer Counselor for TeenCentral.Net. 

KidsPeace Inventor Center
Theresa Crudup

Student observed young men in group therapy sessions; spoke one-on-one with patients/clients; and worked as an interpreter when necessary. She must know CPR, from training, in case of an emergency.

Valley Youth House Shelter Program
Mary Dreisbach

Intern  screened, evaluated, and admitted youths to the shelter. She gave counseling services to clients and families, and maintained order in the house according to established rules.

Green Meadows
Jenn Evans 

Student assisted residents as an activities assistant in the art field and also sat in and participated  in discussions.  She also suggested ideas for activities and discussions.

Clubhouse of Lehigh Valley
Megan Flack

Clubhouse is a psychosocial rehabilitation and prevocational program.  Intern assisted members in performing daily tasks through work units, including kitchen, snack, fundraising, administration, employment, and education.  She also helped members to work with staff in determining the nature and direction of each unit.

First Commonwealth Federal Credit Union

Student assisted with the following:  payroll function, processing time sheets, personnel changes, distribution of pay statements and other related responsibilities including interviewing; screening and hiring progress; scheduling and preparing New Employee Orientation sessions; employee appraisal program; updates to departmental reference guides and manuals; maintenance of personnel and benefit files etc…

 

Internships – Fall 2005


Catasauqua Area School District
Angelique Jackson

School psychology internship K-12th grade. Intern will work with district program on tasks such as SPSS entry and scans to help testing children for IQ and Achievement. She will also assist in the department with daily office functions.


Salisbury Behavioral Health, Inc.
Erica Moser

Intern will work as a crisis worker/recreational therapist. Student will work with mentally and emotionally ill adults providing therapeutic support in a range of modalities including one-on-one therapy and group therapy.


Community Service for Children

Student will help offer families, family care services for the Head Start program.


Cedar Crest College – Student Affairs Office

Intern will work with different aspects of student affairs including residence life diversity and international affairs, community service and career planning.

Intern will assist in counseling sessions and other activities. She may possibly begin an art therapy group in which she will use art as a means of helping patients express their experiences and feelings more productively and acquire better coping skills for future use.


Desert Palm Inn
Kelly Miller

Intern will manage motel staff; find new advertising avenues; be involved in guest relations and customer satisfaction. She will prepare a training manual, stress management routines for employees and organize business to run more efficiently. She will keep a journal of her experience.


New York University Summer Program for Kids
Carissa Okie

Intern will work with children with ADH during an 8 week camp program. She will work on a skill of the day with children and supervise during activities. She will also attend training before the start of camp as well as attend on-going training every day during camp.


County Adult Probation/Parole Lehigh County

Intern will be assigned to different units on a rotating basis for exposure to all units in the department. Some units are direct services, investigation and evaluations, intermediate punishment programs and special projects, and administrative office work.

The Intern will be an administrative assistant at Main Street office. In Northampton Jr/Sr High School she will also mentor up to 4 children referred through the school for academic at risk

Easton Area School District
Carey Frick

Student will work with Elementary/Secondary Guidance Counselors learning all aspects of the position. Six weeks will be spent in an elementary setting K-4 and 6 weeks will be with a secondary setting 9-12.


Serv Centers of New Jersey
Casey Rech

The majority of the Intern’s time will be spent at our Adapt program in Plainsboro, NJ where she will observe groups and perhaps run them as the internship progresses. She will also spend a couple hours per week running groups for clients at her normal place of work.


Care Net Pregnancy Centers of the Lehigh Valley
Holly Tanner

Objective of the internship will be to reach out to clients in an unplanned pregnancy, single parent situation or other pregnancy/parenting related situations, with the mercy and compassion of Jesus Christ by offering practical assistance in both word and action.


The Children’s Therapeutic Center
Yuka Uramoto

Intern will shadow senior mental health worker in partial hospital program, room with 6 patients and provide direct PT care for 1-2 patients. She will learn therapeutic interventions implemented for individual patients and will learn the documentation process for PH patients and attend case review meetings with the mental health team.

Cape Wildlife Center
Megan Kees

Student’s daily assignments may include assessments and treatments, cleaning and feeding of ongoing cases as well as daily admissions and workups of new cases. There will be supervised participation expected in laboratory workups, radiographic assessments and medical care of cases. The student will also be learning aspects of husbandry of wildlife in the clinical and rehabilitative settings. The responsibilities that an intern will be involved with will depend on her knowledge, experience, background and goals. Participation in these responsibilities will be at the discretion of the staff.

Student will facilitate youth sessions for strengthening families and lead program and presentations on substance abuse prevention.

Student will be involved in pastoral care, worship planning and leadership. She will shadow chaplain, be involved in bible study participation and leadership. She will also work with residents, staff and families.

Student will be involved in counseling teens with drug and alcohol problems.


The Caron Foundation
Mary Rish

The student will show an ability to articulate an understand the intake/admission process; one page assignment explaining addiction as a disease. She will need the ability to explain the role of assessment in the treatment of a patient. She will attend group, individual and family sessions as schedule is established between intern and program unit; discuss observations with internship mentor and identify intervention techniques that work and discuss rationale for using particular approaches; attend one full weekend of Family Education Program. Attend one evening program for observation including attendance at 12-step meeting. Create at least two presentations. After observing a group, individual or family session, identify a problem and write it as a progress note in DAP format. Attend staff meetings and any in-house training offered on scheduled internship days.

Student will observe the role of a casework counselor. Group, individual, and family sessions will be part of the work. Court hearings, case consultation and training will also be available.


Thorncroft Therapeutic Horseback Riding, Inc.
Rebekah McClure

Student will assist the instructors during their riding lessons - observing and learning the different styles of teaching. Along with tracking the instructors’ different styles she will also observe a number of riders’ progress during the 13 weeks. This experience will help her learn different methods available for people working with emotional, mental and physical challenged children and adults.


Monroe County Correctional Facility & Northampton County Prison
Holly Tanner

Student will assist in group facilitation. She will provide educational materials of mental health issues to inmates and gain knowledge regarding progress notes, treatment plans, and evaluation. She will attend 304 hearings, as her schedule allows. She will also witness and participate, to an extent, with individual counseling.


School District of Philadelphia
Nina Zouari

Intern will create standardized tests for appropriate grades, conduct test analyses with items, make presentations to constituents, conduct research to examine cultural bias in tests, administer standardized tests, and compute psychometric properties for tests, etc.

Lehigh Valley Hospital
Deborah Brooks

Intern will shadow social workers doing assessments in homecare and in the hospice unit. She will interview hospice patients, shadow nurses and chaplains in the hospital and participate in team meetings.


St. Lukes Addiction Treatment Service
Katharine Brownson

Intern will observe and participate with counselors to gain knowledge of addiction and the treatment of addiction. She will learn to apply counseling theories.

Intern will work in Human Resources Department as an Assistant to Special Projects Manager, Compensation Coordinator, Benefits Specialist, and Payroll Manager.


Children’s Home of Easton
Gurpreet Kaur

As a caseworker, the intern will work with students/clients, maintain records, attend appropriate meetings, and will work in collaboration with other professional disciplines. As a Recreation Counselor, she will organize, conduct, and supervise scheduled activities.

Intern will be involved in the implementation of behavioral plans of supports.


Tiny Tots Learning Center
Audra Matzura

Intern will work in an inclusive preschool with an enrichment group of young children having special needs. She will be working specifically with children who have learning and behavioral issues.



Cedar Crest College
Aura Nicholson

Intern will assist with all aspects of the research portion of the Health & Wellness initiative. This will include the distribution of all surveys, coding all surveys, and entering data into the database. She will also assist in data collection and will complete an extensive literature review.


Lehigh Valley Hospital
Jessica Powers

Intern will shadow aides to patient houses, research specific types of therapy, and conduct patient/family interviews based on the research.


Weaversville Intensive Treatment Unit
David Raybon

Intern will conduct high accountability groups. He will sit in on one-to-one counseling groups. He will also conduct group counseling sessions on various subjects.


KidsPeace Hospital
Loren Spade

Intern will perform level-of-care assessments. She will initiate and complete pre-admissions work, perform quality assurance related to accepted admissions, and keep the Hospital Admissions Supervisor informed of all events that take place during her shift. She will also assist in maintaining and improving the quality of all aspects of admissions work.


Cedar Crest College
Melissa Wise

Intern will work with the professional staff members in various Student Affairs departments in order to gain a better understanding of each department’s role as well as a better understanding of Student Affairs practices and theories.


Valley Youth House
Carly Wright

Intern will be responsible for the contact with and treatment services to youth and families, contact with community agency personnel and administrative documentation of services provided.
