Requirements for the Major in Dance


This major requires the completion of the following 32 credit core courses plus the completion of a concentration. The core consists of Theatre, Speech and Dance, 102, 104, 113, 115, 235, 236, 270, 320, 3 credits from 211-221, 3 credits from 311-319, and FNA 352 and 353.

Dance Therapy Concentration (26 credits): Biology 117; Psychology 100, 227, 250, 326; Theatre, Speech and Dance 100, 201, 325; and Music 101.

Dance Education Concentration (29 credits): Biology 117; Education 100, 200; Psychology 100, 250; Theatre, Speech and Dance 100, 201, 325 (4 credits); and Music 101.

Dance Administration Concentration (28 credits): Business 101, 110, 214, 220, 221, 230; Computer Science 100; Theatre, Speech and Dance 325 (4 credits); and any 3 credit Business course of your choice.

General Studies Concentration (20-23 credits): Theatre, Speech and Dance 100, 201, 251 (3 credits), 325 (4 credits), 352 or 353 (1-4 credits); one 3 credit Art elective; and Music 101.

Senior Project: All majors must produce a major creative project in order to graduate. The student will present a project proposal for departmental approval and seek an advisor for the project by May 1st for fall projects and October 1st for spring projects. No projects will proceed without departmental approval. This project is included in Fine Arts 352 and 353.

Requirements for the Minor in Dance
A minor in dance includes Theatre, Speech and Dance 100, 202,102, 104, 113, 115, 201, 235, and 320; and Music 101 or 103. (Total: 23 credits)
