Gender Studies Opportunities
Students in the program have the opportunity to work closely with faculty on independent research projects, many of which have been accepted for presentation at regional and national conferences.
AnnMarie Kunkle ’02 presented her study of images of women in magazine advertising at the 2001 LVAIC Women’s Studies Student Conference; she presented her analysis of gendered landscapes in Emily Brontë’s “Wuthering Heights” at the Northeast Modern Language Association’s 2002 convention in Toronto and at the 2002 LVAIC Women’s Studies Student Conference.
Amy Sondova ’ 02 presented her analysis of the images of “fat women” in television at the 2000 LVAIC Women’s Studies Student Conference.
Amber Zuber ’03 presented her study of gender dynamics in Colette’s “ The Hand” at the 2001 LVAIC Women’s Studies Student Conference and her examination of gender bias in the classroom at the 2002 LVAIC Women’s Studies Student Conference, along with Courtney Lomax ’05.
