Credential Files |
||||
| Students and graduates may have their
letters of recommendation from faculty and employers kept on file in
the Career Planning Office. Students can obtain a personal
copy of their file or can request that their Credential File
contents be mailed to potential employers or graduate schools.
Pursuant to the Family Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, students are
entitled to read the letters of recommendation in their files unless they
have previously waived that right.
If you are interested in opening a Credential File, please contact the Career Planning Office. There is no fee associated with opening a Credential File. Copies of the Reference Statement Form, upon which your reference writers may submit their letters of reference, are available in the Career Planning Office. Reference writers may also submit their letters of reference on their own letterhead. If you anticipate asking the Career Planning Office to mail your Credential Files for you, please plan to make your request at least one week before you would like them mailed. Requests may not be made over the phone and a completed and signed Request Form and check in the amount of $5 per mailing is required before a request will be processed. In a situation where you absolutely must have next-day service, the Career Planning Office can mail your Credential Files via Priority Mail for a fee of $15 per mailing. (If you have any questions about this special service, please call our office, but don't forget, with an "open" file, you may always come into the Career Planning Office during our regular business hours and copy and mail your file yourself.) |
