MCAT Preparation Workshop
February 1,3,5,& 6 2005

The MCAT Preparation Workshop is a thorough orientation to the Medical College Admission Test that provides techniques for approaching all three section types:  verbal reasoning, physical sciences, and biological sciences.

The content of the course goes well beyond imparting an understanding of the directions for each section.  Specific skills will be discussed and strategies provided to implement in each situation, which include:  untangling dense prose, coping with emotional and other distractions (including stress), how to use scientific knowledge, and managing one's time throughout the test.  The majority of time will be spent practicing these strategies on real MCAT questions.  However, the basics also will be covered, such as how the MCAT fits itno the overall picture of the medical school admission process, and how to score well on the essay portion.  Note:  This is NOT a remedial science course!

The workshop consists of four sessions, Tuesday and Thursday, February 1 & 3, 6:00-9:00pm, and Saturday and Sunday, February 5 & 6, 10am-3:30pm.  This provides the student with 15 hours of intensive skill-building and preparation for the MCAT.  Although this is a complete preparation course, additional class sessions can be ordered, at proportionate cost, after the course has started.  The building and room nubmer will be provided upon registration.

James Yoho, J.D., Ph.D., has been teaching well-regarded test preparation since 1996 through such schools as Penn State, LaSalle, Temple, Rutgers, Lehigh, Marist, and King's.  He taught at colleges and universities, including two law schools, for 12 years.  William Van Der Sluys, Ph. D., is a chemist with 12 years of university teaching experience.

The cost of this workshop is $300 per student.  All course materials, including extensive handouts, are supplied; however, students also must acquire a copy of the recently revised MCAT Practice Test 3R, which can be printed free of charge form the AAMC website at www.aamc.org.  All test questions used in the course are actual MCAT questions.

For further information, contact:  Educational Conference Center, King's College, Phone:  (570) 208-5807 or Email:  semccabe@kings.edu.
