Employment Opportunities - Faculty

American Literature
Half Time Faculty Position

Applications are invited for the half-time, faculty position in American Literature, to begin in fall 2015. Responsibilities will include teaching a 2-2 course load, advising a lively community of undergraduate students, and participating in departmental activities and responsibilities. The successful candidate will teach introductory and advanced courses through a wide range of literary periods, as well as composition courses, as needed by the department.

Minimum qualifications: Ph.D. required. Prior experience teaching at the college level is strongly preferred.

Assistant Professor of American History

Applications are invited for a full-time assistant professor of American history. The successful candidate will teach a 4/4 load, to consist of a range of American history courses, including at least one course in women’s history, as well as one or more history courses outside the American or European experience. Beyond teaching responsibilities, the candidate will advise students and contribute to a larger, multidisciplinary department.

Minimum qualifications: Ph.D. in hand, successful teaching experience at the college or university level, the promise of scholarly productivity, and an interest in directing or collaborating in student research projects.

MATHEMATICS
Full Time Faculty Position

Applications are invited for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position in Mathematics to begin August 2015.

Cedar Crest College offers a B.S. degree in mathematics and Pennsylvania teaching certification in secondary mathematics. This faculty member will teach mathematics courses for majors, but will also be expected to teach a broad range of service courses in mathematics for science, humanities and business students, with a teaching load of 12 credit hours per semester with some evening courses. Minimum qualifications: Ph.D. in mathematics or related field, proven record of excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level, a desire to mentor mathematics and mathematics education students and direct undergraduate research, and a commitment to continued professional development. Candidates who are ABD will be considered if all degree requirements will be completed by their hire date. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate not only mathematical expertise but also an ability to communicate mathematics clearly and effectively to undergraduate students.

Nutrition
Assistant Professor
Full Time, Non-Tenure Track Faculty Position

Applications are invited for the full-time, non-tenure track position (Assistant Professor) in Nutrition beginning in January 2015. This position supports our ACEND accredited DPD curriculum. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, including introductory level courses as well as nutrition metabolism and principles of food; participation in college service, oversight of community outreach programming, scholarly activity and advising and mentoring students in an ACEND-accredited DPD.

Minimum qualifications: Terminal degree in Nutrition or related field preferred, however, strong candidates with Master’s degrees will be considered. Candidates must be credentialed as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist by the Commission on Dietetic Registration. The successful candidate must have demonstrated teaching success at the undergraduate level and experience with ACEND accreditation standards.

Nursing Faculty
Full Time: Mental Health

Cedar Crest College is accepting applications for a full-time, 9 month faculty position in the Nursing Department for:

  • Mental Health (to begin August 2015).

This position will focus primarily on classroom and clinical instruction (for area of specialty) and includes the supervision of undergraduate students. Master’s degree in Nursing is required; a doctorate is preferred. Prior experience in classroom and clinical teaching is also preferred. A willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends is also essential.

Nursing Clinical Faculty - Adjunct

Events Set-up and Moves Technician

Cedar Crest College seeks an Events Set-up and Moves Technician for our campus community. This position will provide support in the coordination and execution of college events and moves. Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Technician works to coordinate and establish work priorities, allocation of resources and quality control, as it pertains to events and moves, in addition to conducting daily and long-range planning to assist members of the College with their events and moves. The successful candidate will have three years of experience in events set-up and/or moves, be able to work independently and collaboratively, have a valid driver’s license and demonstrate excellent customer service skills with a commitment to assuring the best possible environment for education and student living. Successful completion of an applicable investigative background check is required. Preventative Maintenance Mechanic

Cedar Crest College seeks a Preventative Maintenance Mechanic for our campus community. This position will work from both verbal and written instructions, diagrams, drawings and manuals to troubleshoot and repair various mechanical systems and associated equipment throughout college owned buildings. The PM Mechanic is responsible for performing work under the college’s preventative maintenance system, which includes working in a team effort to collect equipment information and enter it into the system that will schedule and print-out preventative maintenance work orders. The successful candidate will have five years of experience in the trade, be able to work independently and collaboratively and have excellent customer service skills with a commitment to assuring the best possible environment for education and student living. HVAC Universal Certification desired. Successful completion of an applicable investigative background check is required. Director of Athletics, Wellness and Recreation

Cedar Crest College offers an outstanding opportunity for an energetic professional to lead the Department of Athletics. The AD is a full-time, administrative position reporting to the Vice President of Student Affairs. The primary responsibilities of this position include actively recruiting student athletes and providing a dynamic, strategic and visionary leadership to the department in addition to providing oversight to the overall administration of varsity athletics, club sports, recreation, intramurals, wellness and related facilities. The AD is also responsible for hiring, supervising, mentoring and leading a well-trained, highly qualified staff to ensure that all areas of the department function together effectively and meet established goals.

A Master’s Degree and five or more years of progressive athletic administrative experience in a higher education setting are required. Comprehensive knowledge of Division III athletic recruitment and a demonstrated record of success in recruiting student-athletes and working collaboratively with the campus community are essential. Strong knowledge of coaching, student programs and recreation, supervision and human resources management, fiscal management and strategic planning are also required. The successful candidate will be available to work extended hours, evenings, and weekends during the school year.

Graduate Intern
Women’s Field Hockey & Lacrosse

The Athletic Department is accepting applications for a Graduate Intern for women’s field hockey and lacrosse, starting in November 2014. The Graduate Intern will provide assistance to the Head Field Hockey and Lacrosse Coach by assisting in player development both on an individual and team basis, recognizing individual talent for recruiting purposes, based on ongoing assessment of team performance, structuring and participating in specific training and fitness techniques relative to the program and making decisions in pressure situations. The Graduate Intern will also set role specific targets by assessing individual players, inform players of their responsibilities, duties, roles, etc. and assist in the operation of the sport specific camps and clinics.
Bachelor’s degree in applicable discipline is required along with prior collegiate playing and/or coaching experience. Qualified candidates must also have knowledge of NCAA III rules and a vaid driver’s license. Acceptance into the Graduate Program at Cedar Crest College is required.
The Graduate Intern is eligible for on-Campus Housing, 12 credits annually and an annual stipend. Position would be extended based on coaching performance evaluation.

Aquatic Fitness Instructors

The Rodale Aquatic Center for Civic Health at Cedar Crest College seeks highly motivated, energetic and enthusiastic individuals to teach aquatic fitness classes to a diverse population of students. Previous experience instructing aquatic or land fitness classes preferred; will train candidates in the use of new equipment and techniques AEA or Arthritis Foundation certification also preferred. Part-time openings exist for both morning and evening classes.

Part Time Dispatcher/Switchboard

Do you have prior dispatch/switchboard experience with an interest in law enforcement? If so, consider the opportunity to join our team to answer and redirect calls, monitor radio and surveillance systems, monitor alarm systems, dispatch officers, contact appropriate off-campus emergency response personnel as necessary, maintain confidentiality and other duties to keep our campus and students safe. The successful candidate will have prior experience in dispatch/switchboard operations or law enforcement coupled with excellent interpersonal skills and the proven ability to communicate and function well in stressful situations. A high school diploma (or equivalent) is required. Position requires a background check, including criminal history, drug screening and a psychological evaluation. Candidates should be flexible with scheduling and may be required to work various shifts and weekends, based upon staffing needs.

Part-time Campus Police Officer

Must be available for any shift. Prior Campus Police or law enforcement (Act 120) experience preferred. Act 235 certification required. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, a degree in criminal justice or equivalent experience. Position requires a background check, including criminal history, drug screening and a psychological evaluation. The regular schedule will typically be an 8 hour shift and a minimum of 2 days per week. The individual may be required to work days, middles, nights, weekends and holidays, based upon staffing needs. Flexibility of work schedule mandatory. Hourly rate is $15.00.
