Employment Opportunities - Faculty

Forensic Science
Full Time Position

Cedar Crest College is seeking applicants for a non-tenured track Assistant Professor position in the College’s FEPAC-Accredited undergraduate and graduate forensic science programs beginning in Fall 2016. Responsibilities include teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in the areas of scientific crime scene investigation, forensic pattern analysis, and/or trace evidence and microscopy. In addition, the successful candidate will provide research mentorship for undergraduate and graduate students and service to both the Department and the College.

Requirements for the position include a Ph.D. in forensic science or a natural science and at least three (3) years professional experience as a forensic science practitioner, educator, or researcher or a Master of Science degree in forensic science or a natural science and at least six (6) years professional experience as a forensic science practitioner, educator, or researcher. Qualified candidates must also have Fellow status with the American Academy of Forensic Sciences or board certification with either the American Board of Criminalistics or the International Association for Identification.

Printmaking, Book Arts and Graphic Design
Full Time Faculty

Cedar Crest College is seeking a full time faculty appointment in the Art Department beginning in August 2016. We seek a colleague who will teach beginning through advanced courses in Printmaking, Book Arts and Graphic Design to the general education student as well as the Art, Art Therapy and Communications majors Responsibilities will also include student advising, curriculum development, maintaining studios, and faculty committee service.

Requirements include a Master of Fine Arts, an active studio record and a minimum of three years professional teaching experience beyond graduate school. Demonstrated experience and commitment to excellence in teaching, creative scholarship, and service to the academic community are also required.

Biological Sciences

New Media/Digital Media Arts
Full Time, Tenure Track Position

The Communication Department at Cedar Crest College is seeking qualified applicants for a full time, tenure-track position in the area of New Media/Digital Media Arts. The successful candidate will have an earned Ph.D. and be able to teach a wide variety of courses in digital media, including Animation and 3-D modeling, Game and Simulation Design, Global Issues in New Media, and Advertising Design. MBA Program
Adjunct Faculty

Biological Sciences
Adjunct Faculty


Applications are invited for adjunct faculty in the Biological Sciences, specifically able to teach Pathophysiology lectures and/or Anatomy and Physiology labs in the spring 2016 semester. The Pathophysiology course meets weekly on Wednesday evenings (4:30-7 pm), and the instructor would be responsible for course design, implementation, and student assessment. The daytime lab courses meet weekly and are part of a set of coordinated laboratory sections and also include course design, implementation and student assessment.

Minimum qualifications: A Master’s degree in Biology or related field required. Prior experience teaching pathophysiology and/or anatomy and physiology strongly preferred.

Business, Management and Economics
Department Chair

Cedar Crest College is seeking a dynamic, entrepreneurial individual to chair the Department of Business, Management, and Economics and provide leadership for the full realization of two strategic initiatives: an undergraduate cooperative education program for the Business major and the Master’s in Business Administration launched in Fall 2015. Reporting directly to the Provost, the Chair will be a proven leader and strategic thinker who will provide outstanding oversight and stewardship for the administrative, financial, and academic program components, and who will collaboratively develop a vision for the continued growth of the department. This is a 12-month academic appointment beginning in July 2016, with an 18 credit teaching load per academic year.

Campus Courier
Full Time

The College has an excellent opportunity for an organized, efficient and friendly individual to serve as a full time Campus Courier to pick up, receive, and deliver USPS and campus mail, parcels and packages to the campus community using an established delivery routing schedule. The Courier assures efficient and accurate delivery and receipt of mail and packages on campus and will pick up and deliver from off campus locations as necessary.

A high school diploma (or equivalent), a valid PA driver’s license and proficiency in writing, reading and understanding the written word as well as basic math functions are all required. Strong communication and organizational skills along with a commitment to providing excellent customer service are also essential. Conference Services Assistant

Cedar Crest College has an exciting opportunity for customer focused individual to serve as Conference Services Assistant in our Student Center and on our beautiful 84-acre campus. The Assistant is responsible for scheduling and planning events and providing on-site support for internal and external groups on campus. This includes effective scheduling, appropriate technical assistance, and working collaboratively with other departments to maximize customer satisfaction. The Assistant also provides supervision to student workers and processes billing for services, including student meal plans. Evening and weekend hours are required.
Associate’s degree in business, hospitality management or related field is required; Bachelor’s degree preferred. Exceptional interpersonal, organizational and customer service skills, along with a proven capacity for working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment are also necessary for success. Head Women’s Basketball Coach and Athletic Operations Coordinator
Full Time

Cedar Crest College is seeking a Head Basketball Coach who will also serve as the athletic department Operations Coordinator. The primary responsibilities of this position will be to serve as an NCAA Division III Head Women’s Basketball Coach, while also coordinating facility scheduling and management of all home game operations, Athletics special events and summer camps as well as supervising assigned staff. Coaches are also expected to develop, coordinate and manage an active recruitment and retention program for student athletes. This is a full-time, 12-month position within the Student Affairs Division, reporting to the Director of Athletics, Wellness and Recreation.

A Bachelor's degree and at least two year’s prior experience coaching basketball at the collegiate level are required. Candidates must also have demonstrated success at effectively recruiting and retaining student-athletes. Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations necessary. The successful candidate will have strong organizational, time management and communication skills in addition to a strong commitment to player and student development. Current CPR, First Aid and AED certifications are also required.

Communication and Social Media Coordinator

Cedar Crest College is seeking a Communication and Social Media Coordinator to play an important role in coordinating the communication efforts within Institutional Advancement. The Coordinator will create an overall communications strategy for Advancement, including designing and writing publications to build brand awareness and increase fund raising initiatives as well as writing appeals. The Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the production of print and web materials and creating and implementing Advancement’s social media strategy.

Director of Diversity and Inclusion

Cedar Crest College seeks applications for a Director of Diversity and Inclusion. This is a full-time, twelve-month staff position reporting to the Vice President of Student Affairs. The Director of Diversity and Inclusion will be responsible for promoting a college environment that supports underrepresented, under-resourced students of diverse identities. The Director of Diversity and Inclusion will:

  • provide leadership to build and sustain inclusive educational and social experiences for students from diverse backgrounds;
  • advocate with and for underrepresented, under-resourced students and student organizations to promote leadership development and civic engagement on issues of diversity;
  • establish energetic co-curricular programing and initiatives that facilitate campus dialogue and learning about self and diverse others;
  • collaborate with a multicultural advisory board, academic programs, student support offices, and college committees to promote a diverse, inclusive, and equitable campus environment that addresses issues of student recruitment, success, and retention;
  • be an engaging member of the campus community who reaches out to students, faculty, and staff to develop meaningful understanding and positive action on issues of diversity and multiculturalism;
  • plan, manage, and assess the operations of the Multicultural Center, including overseeing its budget, obtaining funding for its initiatives, supervising a staff that includes a part-time graduate assistant and several undergraduate assistants, and managing the center’s social media related to campus diversity and inclusion;
  • engage the Lehigh Valley community and area colleges on issues of diversity and inclusion (as through the Lehigh Valley Association of Independent Colleges); and
  • participate in continuing professional development activities and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications include a commitment to improving issues of multiculturalism, diversity, inclusion, and equity in higher education, proven experience in the development of educational and social programing to improve the college experience for diverse students, an ability to foster meaningful dialogue on the intersectional dynamics of difference, and exceptional interpersonal skills that will be used for community building as well as healing during times of difficulty. Qualified candidates will possess at least a master’s degree in student affairs, counseling, higher education administration, or another related field and have a minimum of three years of experience working with diverse populations in higher education.

Part Time Dispatcher/Switchboard
Campus Police

Do you have prior dispatch/switchboard experience with an interest in law enforcement? If so, consider the opportunity to join our team to answer and redirect calls, monitor radio and surveillance systems, monitor alarm systems, dispatch officers, contact appropriate off-campus emergency response personnel as necessary, maintain confidentiality and other duties to keep our campus and students safe. The successful candidate will have prior experience in dispatch/switchboard operations or law enforcement coupled with excellent interpersonal skills and the proven ability to communicate and function well in stressful situations. A high school diploma (or equivalent) is required. Position requires a background check, including criminal history, child abuse clearance, drug screening and a psychological evaluation. Reference Assistant
Weekend Part Time
Cressman Library, Cedar Crest College

Cressman Library at Cedar Crest College is seeking a part time Reference Assistant to provide assistance using and teaching print and online library resources, supervising student assistants, compiling statistics, and monitoring other library services. During the academic year, the hours are Sunday 12 noon – 9:00 PM. and Tuesday nights 8 to 11 PM. Some summer hours are available.

The successful candidate must have at least an Associate’s degree in an applicable field as well as exceptional customer service, communication and organizational skills. Proficiency with applicable technology, including use of the Internet, word processing and spreadsheet software is required. Prior experience in reference services is preferred.

Graduate Assistant
Lacrosse

The Athletic Department at Cedar Crest is accepting applications from qualified candidates for a graduate assistant (GA) who will serve as an assistant coach in lacrosse along with an administrative role within the department. The GA will assist in player development on an individual and team basis, recognize individual talent for recruiting specific to team requirements through ongoing assessment of team performance, and inform players of their responsibilities, duties, and roles. The GA will also assist in the day-to-day operations of the athletic program including developing and implementing initiatives that best serve the student population. This part time position includes on campus housing, 12 credits annually and an annual stipend.

A Bachelor's degree and prior collegiate level lacrosse playing, coaching or athletic office experience is required. Knowledge of NCAA rules and acceptance in to a graduate program at Cedar Crest are also required. In addition, a valid driver’s license, applicable clearances, CPR, First Aid and AED certifications are required.

Multicultural Center Graduate Assistant
Part Time

Cedar Crest College is seeking an energetic graduate student with a passion for multicultural education, ALANA and LGBTQIA issues. The Multicultural Center GA will work to facilitate student learning about self and diverse others by planning engaging programs, meeting with students, supporting student organizations, promoting leadership development, and helping to build community among students, particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds. The GA is also responsible for working with members of the multicultural team in the development and operation of the Multicultural Center and report directly to the Director of New Student Programs. The position is funded for two years at 20 hours per week and includes furnished room with air conditioner, cable, internet and free, semi-private laundry facilities. Free parking, free access to fitness and aquatic center activities and regional networking opportunities also complement this position!

Applicants must be Master’s degree candidates in student affairs in higher education or a closely related field. The successful candidate will have demonstrated commitment to diversity, cultural awareness, and social inclusion as well as a solid understanding of underrepresented college experiences in higher education. Strong problem solving and research skills are essential, as are excellent organizational, collaboration and communication skills. Prior experience in working with college students and programming is preferred, in addition to the ability to successfully facilitate workshops on a variety of topics. The ability and willingness to work extended hours on evenings and weekends is required.

Aquatic Fitness Instructors

The Rodale Aquatic Center for Civic Health at Cedar Crest College seeks highly motivated, energetic and enthusiastic individuals to teach aquatic fitness classes to a diverse population of students. Previous experience instructing aquatic or land fitness classes preferred; will train candidates in the use of new equipment and techniques AEA or Arthritis Foundation certification also preferred. Part-time openings exist for both morning and evening classes.
