Performing Arts - Adjunct

Faculty Position in Mathematics

Applications are invited for the position of Assistant Professor of Mathematics for the 2013-2014 academic year. This position is based on an annual contract, with the potential for a longer contract term based on the College’s assessment of performance.

The college offers a B.S. degree in mathematics and Pennsylvania teaching certification in secondary mathematics. This faculty member will teach mathematics courses for majors, but will also be expected to teach a broad range of service courses in mathematics for science, humanities and business students, with a teaching load of 12 credit hours per semester with some evening courses. Minimum qualifications: Ph.D. in mathematics or related field, promise of excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level, a desire to mentor mathematics and mathematics education students and direct undergraduate research, and a commitment to continued professional development. Candidates who are ABD will be considered.  The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate not only mathematical expertise but also an ability to communicate mathematics clearly and effectively to undergraduate students.

Art Therapy Program Assistant Professor – Part-time

Summary of Duties

The Art Department at Cedar Crest College seeks a Part-time Assistant Professor position in the Art Therapy Program beginning August 2013.

The Undergraduate and Graduate Art Therapy Programs provide a studio model of education based in a humanistic/existential approach to art therapy pre-professional and professional art therapy training.

Responsibilities include:

  • teaching two courses (graduate and/or undergraduate level) per semester
  • advising graduate and undergraduate art therapy students
  • assisting with coordination of graduate practicum placements
  • assisting with review of student applications and on-going student assessment
  • assisting with orientation workshops for first and second year graduate students
  • providing supervision to second year graduate students on required culminating project
  • serving on (1) academic college committee
  • assisting with activities that support the program and the college

Requirements

Nursing Clinical Adjunct Faculty

Cedar Crest College seeks experienced nurses with expertise in the specialties of psychiatric and pediatric nursing to serve as adjunct clinical instructors 1-3 days per week, &/or every other weekend beginning May 2013. Nursing Faculty (Full-time, non-tenure track)

A doctorate in nursing or related field & experience in nursing education with a background in medical surgical nursing or nursing administration preferred.  Reference Assistant

Cedar Crest College is seeking candidates to fill a Part-Time position to provide reference assistance using and teaching print and computer-based resources; supervising student assistants, and monitoring other library services. Familiarity with the Internet, word processing and spreadsheet software necessary. ACADEMIC YEAR HOURS: Monday through Thursday 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.. Some summer hours available. Qualifications: AA degree (minimum), service orientation. Preferred: Experience in reference services.

 Assistant Director of Athletics for Recreation & Head Women’s Volleyball Coach

Full-Time 9 month position

Cedar Crest College is seeking an Assistant Director of Athletics for Recreation & Head Women’s Volleyball Coach.

As the Assistant Athletic Director for Recreation, there is direct responsibility for creating and implementing campus recreation programs and services that facilitate students’ transition to college, build campus community and promote school spirit. This 9-month management position will develop, oversee and assess a comprehensive and diverse recreation program, which includes traditional events as well as new programming, develop marketing and communication plans and update the web-site to promote the vision, mission, goals and achievements of the recreation program, administer the recreation budget and hire, train and supervise a Recreation Coordinator.

Duties as the Head Women’s Volleyball Coach include, but are not limited to: providing a positive direction and leadership to maintain a successful women’s volleyball program; plan and administer all aspects of the program; coach, recruit, adhere to NCAA and CSAC compliance policies; have the ability to work with athletics communications on public relations initiatives; direct the Cedar Crest College Soccer camps and clinics; be directly involved with fundraising and department development initiatives; hire and supervise a full-time graduate assistant coach.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience coaching at the collegiate or high school level is required. Competency in Microsoft Office products is strongly preferred. CPR/First Aid/AED is required.

The position requires excellent interpersonal and writing skills. Candidate must be highly motivated and energetic, while being able to manage a demanding work schedule that may include long hours and weekends/holidays. The candidate must also possess a strong commitment and willingness to travel, so as to best recruit potential student-athletes, not only regionally, but nationally.

LVAIC - Program Director

Lehigh Valley Association of Independent Colleges (LVAIC), consisting of Cedar Crest College, DeSales University, Lafayette College, Lehigh University, Moravian College and Muhlenberg College, founded in 1969 to facilitate collaborations among the six private colleges of the Lehigh Valley of Pennsylvania.

The key responsibilities of this position include collaborative program development, implementation and management through effective leadership and facilitation of LVAIC communities of practice.  This position also is responsible to provide administration to the LVAIC offices and central functions.

Graduate Interns - Athletics

The Athletic Department at Cedar Crest College is accepting applications from qualified candidates for Graduate Interns starting in the Spring and Fall of 2013, as an assistant coach in the sports of: basketball(spring), volleyball, soccer, lacrosse and field hockey in combination with an administrative role/title in one of the following: Sports Information, Game Day Operations, Recreation or Compliance. The Graduate Interns will provide assistance to the head coach and the Assistant Director of Athletics in a specified area. Thoughtful combination of an assistant coaching position, that would best utilize skill sets and accommodate applicant’s interests in an administrative role, will provide a well-rounded experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Coaching:Assist in player development both on an individual and team basis. Recognize individual talent for recruiting specific to team requirements through ongoing assessment of team performance. Structure and participate in specific training and fitness techniques relative to the program. Make instant decisions in pressure game situations. Set role specific targets by assessing individual players. Inform players of their responsibilities, duties, roles, etc.   Assist in the operation of the sport specified camps and clinics.

Administrative:  Assist in the day-to-day operations of the specified program - Sports Information, Game Day Operations, Recreation or Wellness.   Assist in developing and implementing initiatives that best serve the current student population. The ability to conduct/oversee events specific to the administrative role.

REQUIREMENTS:  Bachelor’s degree required, prior collegiate playing, coaching experience and/or athletic office experience, a valid driver’s license, knowledge of NCAA rules and acceptance into the Graduate Program at Cedar Crest College.
