Part-time Ceramic Faculty

Cedar Crest College invites applicants to apply for a part-time Ceramic Faculty position beginning Fall 2012. M.F.A. and teaching experience required.

Workload includes 2 courses per semester (4 courses over the academic year). Day and evening courses are required. Primary responsibilities include teaching hand building and wheel throwing techniques, working knowledge of kilns, firing techniques, clay and glaze making and the maintenance of the ceramic studio.

Additional responsibilities to the College and Art Department include advising, college committee assignments and participation on the departmental level in portfolio reviews, admissions events and team teaching (stipend provided) Advanced Studio Problems with other art department faculty.

Anthropology Adjunct Position

Cedar Crest College is seeking an Adjunct Faculty member to teach Introductory Cultural Anthropology (Ant 100) in the Fall 2012, with the possibility of continuing into future semesters. The course is scheduled to meet, for the Fall 2012 semester, Thursday evenings from 6:30 – 9:00.

Cedar Crest is also accepting application for future courses to be taught in Human Evolution.

Adjunct Professor Biology

The Department of Biological Sciences at Cedar Crest College is looking for an adjunct professor to teach the Summer Session I (May 14-June 28) BIO 122 Principles of Biology II lecture and laboratory course. Topics of this course for majors in the biological sciences include: evolution, ecology, plants, animals and some human systems. Course will run Mondays-Thursdays 5:30-8:30pm (dependent upon enrollment). Candidates should have a Masters or Ph.D. in a relevant discipline. Advanced graduate students will also be considered. The Department of Business Management and Economics at Cedar Crest College is seeking Adjunct Faculty members for its online Business Administration Program to begin in the Fall 2012. The Business Administration Program offers concentrations in Economics, Healthcare Management, Human Resources Management, Management, and Marketing. Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Education

Accounting Assistant – Full-time

Cedar Crest College is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Accounting Assistant. Duties include maintaining the College’s general ledger and accounting records, grant accounting, preparation of account reconciliations, analysis, and financial reporting. The individual will be a back up to the cashier position, perform bank reconciliations, prepare journal entries for month end and year end close and other accounting duties. Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting and at least 2 years of relevant work experience. Essential skills include strong verbal and written communication, basic understanding of not-for-profit accounting and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (particularly Excel and Access), Infomaker and computerized accounting system.

Head Volleyball Coach – Part-time

Cedar Crest College, a private women's college located in Allentown, PA, is seeking a dynamic individual to be the part-time head coach of its varsity volleyball team. This position reports to the Director of Athletics and is part of the college's administrative staff. Specific areas of responsibility will include student-athlete recruitment; training, conditioning and skill development for both the traditional and non-traditional seasons; game preparation; and cultivating relationships with alumnae and other constituencies. Ensuring adherence to the policies of Cedar Crest College, the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) and the NCAA will be an ongoing essential.

Qualified candidates will possess a bachelor's degree with a minimum of four years of successful volleyball coaching and/or playing experience, preferably at the collegiate level. A high level of self-motivation and excellent interpersonal skills are imperative.

Assistant to the Athletic Director Internship

Cedar Crest College, a private women's college located in Allentown, PA, is seeking to fill an internship position for an Assistant to the Athletic Director. This is a full-time ten month position for both the 2012-13 and 2013-14 academic years. Salary: $20,100 annually for 10 months plus an additional $3000 professional development stipend. Successful candidate will also receive campus housing, meal plan and health benefits. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university. Knowledge of NCAA rules and previous NCAA Division III playing experience or athletics involvement preferred. Applicants must also have strong computer knowledge and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Responsibilities: Essential job functions include assisting in the areas of compliance and eligibility, game management, athletic operations and student-athlete welfare.

Graduate Hall Director – Part-time

The Department of Residence Life is committed to providing educational programming, leadership opportunities and a safe, comfortable living learning community. The Graduate Hall Director works 25-30 hours per week as a live-in staff member and supervisor of an all women’s residence hall during the 10-month position. The position is designed for maximum visibility, involvement and accessibility with residents. The Graduate Hall Director is a member of the student affairs division and reports directly to the director of residence life. The key work responsibilities of the Graduate Hall Director include supervision, educational development and administrative tasks.

The qualified candidate must have experience and/or interest in Residence Life. A bachelor’s degree is required, and enrollment in a Master’s degree program is preferred. A successful candidate will possess the ability to prioritize various projects as they arise, be self-motivated and work autonomously. It is also imperative that the candidate maintain strict confidentiality and be organized. The candidate also needs to work successfully with students, parents, faculty and administrators as well as members of the community.

Director of Athletics, Wellness and Recreation

The Director of Athletics, Wellness and Recreation is a full-time, administrative position within the Student Affairs Division, reporting to the Vice President of Student Affairs. The primary responsibilities of this position will be to provide dynamic, strategic and visionary leadership to the department while overseeing the overall administration of varsity athletics, club sports, recreation, intramurals, wellness and related facilities. The Director is also responsible for hiring, supervising, mentoring and leading a well-trained, highly qualified staff to ensure that all areas of the department function together effectively.

A Master’s Degree and five or more years of progressive athletic administrative experience in a higher education setting are required. This position requires knowledge of coaching, student programs and recreation, supervision and human resources management, fiscal management and strategic planning. The successful candidate will be able to work extended hours and evenings, weekends and seven days a week during the school year.

Campaign Manager/Director of Development

Cedar Crest College has an immediate opening for a Campaign Manager/Director of Development to work with the Vice President, Trustee Advancement Committee, the Presidential Cabinet, and Campaign Volunteer Leadership to plan, implement, and sustain all aspects of the College’s phase one and phase two of a comprehensive campaign. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Institutional Advancement, the Campaign Manager/Director of Development will work as member of the Advancement team and independently, as needed, to complete campaign activities. The successful candidate will work closely with the Vice President and the campaign counsel to implement daily campaign activities, support and manage campaign volunteers and provide staffing to volunteer leaders in the recruitment and orientation of campaign volunteers. The Campaign Manager/Director of Development will supervise staff members including Annual Giving Director, Prospect Researcher, Grants Manager and Stewardship Manager and work closely with the Marketing and Communications Director for effective campaign communication materials in all media. In addition to his/her Director responsibilities, this position will be expected to maintain a prospect pool of 100 individuals for cultivation, solicitation and stewardship and conducts 12 to 15 appointments per month, solicit major donor prospects annually for major gift or high end annual fund, conduct cold calls (4 to 5 per month) to identify major donor prospects, and manage his/her time effectively so that 50% is spent in the field meeting with prospects and 50% is spent on campus preparing and organizing campaign functions.

The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor’s Degree and have 7 or more years experience in fundraising that require building and managing relationships with people of influence and affluence and supporting their needs. Experience in managing a fundraising campaign is essential. Previous work with non-profits focused in higher education and major donor cultivation s preferred and the candidate must have demonstrated success persuading and influencing groups and individuals to support the organization’s mission with respect to colleagues, team members, volunteer leadership and other potential stakeholders. Demonstrated success leading and managing other professionals, support staff and volunteers to achieve short and long term professional goals and competencies individually and as members of a team is required along with understanding the complexity of the volunteer/professional relationship. Success managing these relationships in a warm and professional manner must be demonstrated. The Campaign Manager/Director of Development must possess strong analytical skills and the ability to problem solve; the understanding of fundraising and campaign accounting preferred.

Administrative Assistant for Pan-European Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing

Cedar Crest College invites applications from experienced office administrators to serve as the Administrative Assistant for the Pan-European Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing. This appointment is scheduled to begin in July 2012.

Reporting directly to the MFA Program Director and the MFA Administrative Director, the Administrative Assistant facilitates aspects of the program’s operations from the Cedar Crest College Allentown campus. Primary duties include providing administrative and clerical services for program directors and faculty, maintaining academic records and program budgets, and support of the program’s online distance education components. The position is a part-time, 12-month staff appointment.

Qualified candidates will possess a bachelor’s degree, excellent oral and written communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills. Proficiency in MS Office required, along with excellent planning and organizational skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a diverse team of professionals. Candidates with mastery of Spanish or German as second languages are especially encouraged to apply.
