Employment Opportunities - Faculty

Effective January 2015, all new faculty and staff at Cedar Crest College must successfully complete a background check, including a Criminal History Report from the Pennsylvania State Police, a Child Abuse History Clearance from the Department of Human Services and a fingerprint based criminal history submitted through the FBI. MBA Program
Adjunct Faculty

Applications are invited for adjunct faculty to teach graduate courses on campus in one or more of the following business subjects: Critical/Analytical Thinking, Ethics & Governance, Economic Analysis, and Negotiation. Classes begin in Fall 2015 and will also be held in Winter 2015/16. Candidates must be able to demonstrate teaching excellence in an environment that is dedicated to providing a learning experience that imparts knowledge, competencies and skills for advancing students’ careers in their chosen field or entrepreneurial ventures. Ideal candidates will be student oriented and able to integrate current events and technology into the learning environment. Faculty are required to hold office hours, one hour for each class meeting.

Minimum qualifications: MBA or other relevant master’s degree required; Doctorate in business or related discipline preferred. Five years of business experience and teaching or training experience also required.

Biological Sciences
Visiting Assistant Professor

Applications are invited for a full time, one year visiting professor position in the field of Biology for Fall 2015. New Media/Communication
Assistant Professor
Full Time, Non-Tenure Track Position

Applications are invited for a full time Assistant Professor in the field of Communication, specifically in New Media Studies and Production. Courses to be taught include Global Issues in New Media, Women in Digital Culture, as well as a select number of production courses including animation and video production.  The Communication Department at Cedar Crest College is dedicated to a student curriculum that teaches ethical professional practice and critical analysis of communication texts; therefore, a commitment to cultural studies and/or critical pedagogy is required.

Community/Population Health

Nursing Clinical Faculty - Adjunct

Are you a Master’s prepared registered nurse (MSN) with experience and expertise in a clinical specialty such as psych, community health, med-surg or maternal/child health? Director of Multicultural Affairs/ESL Instructor

Cedar Crest College has an exciting opportunity for a seasoned individual to provide leadership and effective management of diversity initiatives and programs related to diversity, multicultural and LGBTQA issues on campus. The Director will plan programs, workshops and training sessions that promote a diverse and inclusive campus for students and the entire campus community. Responsibilities also include coordinating Diversity Task Force efforts, evaluating student learning outcomes related to diversity programming, assisting with advising cultural and LGBTQA student organizations and coordinating educational outreach programs for students, faculty and staff. In addition, the Director will provide academic support to international students and will function as the Academic Advisor to ESL students and will provide general support to this population.

A master’s degree and at least two years of working with students from diverse backgrounds are required, as is the ability to apply Student Development Theory. Prior experience instructing ESL classes is essential in addition to prior experience creating instruction to meet the needs of a diverse population of international students. Candidates must also have experience developing, implementing, evaluating and assessing a comprehensive range of programs related to diversity. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to deal sensitively and effectively with students from diverse cultures and backgrounds. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required, along with strong organizational and collaboration skills. Some evening and weekend work is required in this role.

Transfer Coordinator

The Admissions Office at Cedar Crest College is seeking a results-oriented, energetic, full time Transfer Coordinator with a commitment to providing quality service. Responsibilities include assuring high quality service to transfer applicants from recruitment to enrollment by coordinating recruitment efforts, application processing, transcript evaluation, articulation agreements, registration and orientation activities. The Transfer Coordinator will also communicate with and counsel potential students regarding admissions criteria, scholarships, financial aid and programs of study. Director of Global Initiatives and International Programs

Cedar Crest College has an exciting opportunity for a motivated and collaborative individual to lead the College’s efforts to internationalize by developing, implementing, and managing in-country and international student study away opportunities and initiatives, as well as advising and assisting international students attending Cedar Crest College. The Director of Global Initiatives and International Programs will work closely with faculty and staff in the development and implementation of study away opportunities related to academic programs, courses, and living-learning communities, as well as create global partnerships and build relationships with colleges and universities abroad to foster faculty and student scholarly and study away exchange programs. In addition, the Director will work closely with the admissions office to assist with international student recruitment and enrollment, as well as coordinate immigration-related services for international students.

A master’s degree is required, along with at least four years of study abroad, international, or related international experience. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to deal sensitively and effectively with students from multiple cultures. In addition, candidates must be able to work collaboratively with faculty and administrative staff. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required, along with strong organizational skills. Candidates must also have knowledge of academic, personal, and other adjustment issues for students and faculty studying and living in foreign cultures. Head Field Hockey Coach and Recruiting Coordinator
Full Time

Cedar Crest College is seeking a Head Field Hockey Coach who will also serve as the College’s Recruiting Coordinator. The coach will develop, recruit and administer a competitive women’s field hockey program consistent with the student-athlete philosophy of NCAA Division III athletics. Coaches are also expected to develop, coordinate and manage an active recruitment and retention program for field hockey student athletes.

The Recruiting Coordinator monitors recruiting efforts of the athletic department and serves as the direct liaison with the Office of Admissions. Activities such as overnight visits and traditional visits are coordinated through this position as is athletics staff representation at all admissions day events on campus including Junior Preview Days, Open Houses and orientations.

A Bachelor's degree and prior experience coaching field hockey at the high school or college level is required. Head Lacrosse Coach and Compliance Officer
Full Time

Cedar Crest College, is seeking a Head Lacrosse Coach who will also serve as the athletic department Compliance Officer. The coach will develop, recruit and administer a competitive women’s field hockey program consistent with the student-athlete philosophy of NCAA Division III athletics. Coaches are also expected to develop, coordinate and manage an active recruitment and retention program for lacrosse student athletes.

The Compliance Officer monitors recruiting, playing and practice activities to ensure overall compliance, monitors full-time enrollment, graduation rates, academic progress, and academic status of student-athletes all in accordance with NCAA rules and institutional and departmental regulations. The Compliance Officer also works closely with Transfer and Transition services to address and respond to academic concerns in conjunction with the Director of Athletics.

A Bachelor's degree and prior experience coaching lacrosse at the high school or college level is required. Candidates must also have demonstrated success at effectively recruiting and retaining student-athletes. Prior experience working with compliance rules and regulations is essential. Director of Sports Communication & Media Relations

Cedar Crest College is seeking a Director of Sports Communication & Media Relations who will manage publicity efforts for our 9 varsity, NCAA Division III women’s sports. This 12-month management position will produce athletic publications, manage in-game and cumulative statistics, coordinate athletic department media relations, and manage all of the day-to-day activities of the sports information office. The Director works closely with the Director of Athletics, coaching staff, student-athletes and other constituents to develop a strong, positive image of Cedar Crest College Athletics. The position requires the ability to manage a demanding work schedule that may include long hours, weekends/holidays and some travel.

A Bachelor's degree in communications, sports management or a similar field is required; Master’s degree preferred. At least three years of related experience, preferably as a head or assistant sports information director. Exceptional communication, interpersonal and writing skills and knowledge of publishing software, Stat Crew statistical programs, and Web page management are essential. A working knowledge of Sidearm sports, InDesign, Photoshop, Stat Crew software, Final Cut Pro or similar video editing software, HTML and other desktop publishing tools is strongly preferred. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated history of effectively working independently or with a team and strong, proactive management skills. Prior coaching experience at the high school or college level a plus.

Advising and Retention Specialist

Cedar Crest College offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced advisor to provide direct student support to the College’s international, linguistically diverse and students from under-represented populations. The Specialist will provide individual academic and advising support for students and collaborate directly with Global Initiatives and International Programs and the Multicultural Center to improve the academic experience for identified students and populations. The position reports to the Director of Student Success and Retention within Academic Services. Occasional evening hours and weekend work are required in this role.

A Master’s degree in higher education, study abroad, student affairs, ESL or related field is required as is prior experience providing individual and programmatic support services for international, linguistically diverse and students from under-represented populations. Experience supporting international students from Asia and the Middle East, academic advising, collaborating with faculty, teaching or tutoring ESL, and providing direct academic assistances to ESL students is preferred. The successful candidate must have demonstrated knowledge and training in academic support service delivery and a desire to work with students with diverse academic needs. Strong and effective communication, leadership, organizational, interpersonal and customer service skills are critical to the position.

Campus Police Opportunities

Part Time Dispatcher/Switchboard: Do you have prior dispatch/switchboard experience with an interest in law enforcement? If so, consider the opportunity to join our team to answer and redirect calls, monitor radio and surveillance systems, monitor alarm systems, dispatch officers, contact appropriate off-campus emergency response personnel as necessary, maintain confidentiality and other duties to keep our campus and students safe. The successful candidate will have prior experience in dispatch/switchboard operations or law enforcement coupled with excellent interpersonal skills and the proven ability to communicate and function well in stressful situations. A high school diploma (or equivalent) is required. Position requires a background check, including criminal history, drug screening and a psychological evaluation. Candidates should be flexible with scheduling and may be required to work various shifts and weekends, based upon staffing needs.

Multicultural Center Graduate Assistant
Part Time

Cedar Crest College is seeking an energetic graduate student with a passion for multicultural education, ALANA and LGBTQIA issues. The Multicultural Center GA will work to facilitate student learning about self and diverse others by planning engaging programs, meeting with students, supporting student organizations, promoting leadership development, and helping to build community among students, particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds. The GA is also responsible for working with members of the multicultural team in the development and operation of the Multicultural Center and report directly to the Director of New Student Programs. The position is funded for two years at 20 hours per week and includes furnished room with air conditioner, cable, internet and free, semi-private laundry facilities. Free parking, free access to fitness and aquatic center activities and regional networking opportunities also complement this position!

Applicants must be Master’s degree candidates in student affairs in higher education or a closely related field. The successful candidate will have demonstrated commitment to diversity, cultural awareness, and social inclusion as well as a solid understanding of underrepresented college experiences in higher education. Strong problem solving and research skills are essential, as are excellent organizational, collaboration and communication skills. Preventative Maintenance Mechanic

Cedar Crest College seeks a Preventative Maintenance Mechanic for our campus community. This position will work from both verbal and written instructions, diagrams, drawings and manuals to troubleshoot and repair various mechanical systems and associated equipment throughout college owned buildings. The PM Mechanic is responsible for performing work under the college’s preventative maintenance system, which includes working in a team effort to collect equipment information and enter it into the system that will schedule and print-out preventative maintenance work orders. The successful candidate will have five years of experience in the trade, be able to work independently and collaboratively and have excellent customer service skills with a commitment to assuring the best possible environment for education and student living. HVAC Universal Certification desired. Successful completion of an applicable investigative background check is required. This position is considered essential personnel for the campus and will be required to assist during College closures, emergencies and other scheduled and unscheduled events.

Aquatic Fitness Instructors

The Rodale Aquatic Center for Civic Health at Cedar Crest College seeks highly motivated, energetic and enthusiastic individuals to teach aquatic fitness classes to a diverse population of students. Previous experience instructing aquatic or land fitness classes preferred; will train candidates in the use of new equipment and techniques AEA or Arthritis Foundation certification also preferred. Part-time openings exist for both morning and evening classes.
