FT Tenure Track Position in Education

The Education Department of Cedar Crest College invites qualified applicants to apply for one full-time, tenure track position in Education to start in the fall of 2009.  The successful candidate will be required to perform all duties associated with teaching at the college level including advising at the undergraduate and graduate level, teaching evening and/or weekend courses, engaging in research and scholarly endeavors, supervising student teachers, and participating in service to the college, the discipline, and local educational community.  The successful candidate should be prepared to teach a graduate research methods course and be familiar with K-12 mathematics and science content and pedagogy. The ideal candidate will have an earned doctorate in education and a proven record of excellence in teaching in elementary or secondary classrooms in the public school setting.  Candidates who are ABD will be considered if all degree requirements will be completed by August 31, 2009.

Assistant Professor of Biochemistry

The Department of Chemical and Physical Sciences of Cedar Crest College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning either in August, 2009 or in January, 2010.  The preferred candidate must hold a Ph.D. in biochemistry or chemistry, with a demonstrated concentration in the area of biochemistry.  Preference will also be given to the candidate with research interests related to Forensics.  The teaching assignments will include both lecture and laboratory courses in biochemistry, non-majors chemistry, and nutritional biochemistry.  The successful candidate must be committed to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level and will be expected to actively engage in research with undergraduate students.  The candidate will also be expected to participate in student advising, faculty governance, and service to the college and community service, as well as pursue scholarly achievement appropriate for an undergraduate college.

Part-Time Reference Assistant

The Library of Cedar Crest College has an opening for a Part-Time position to provide reference assistance using and teaching print and computer-based resources; supervising student assistants, and monitoring other library services.  Familiarity with the Internet, wordprocessing and spreadsheet software necessary.  ACADEMIC YEAR HOURS:  Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.; Sunday 12 noon to 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m..  Some summer hours available.  Qualifications:  AA degree (minimum), service orientation.  Preferred:  Experience in reference services.

Part-Time Head Women's Soccer Coach

Cedar Crest College, a private women's college located in Allentown, PA, is seeking a dynamic individual to be the part-time head coach of its varsity soccer team. This position reports to the Director of Athletics and is part of the college's administrative staff.  Specific areas of responsibility will include student-athlete recruitment, training, conditioning, skill development, game preparation; and cultivating relationships with alumnae and other constituencies. Ensuring adherence to the policies of Cedar Crest College, the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) and the NCAA will be an ongoing essential. Qualified candidates will possess a bachelor's degree with a minimum of two years of successful soccer coaching or playing experience, preferably at the college level. A high level of self-motivation and excellent interpersonal skills are imperative.

Lifeguard Position 

The Rodale Aquatic Center for Civic Health at Cedar Crest College seeks candidates for Lifeguard positions to work various hours between 6:00 am and 9:00 pm, Monday through Saturday beginning immediately.  Qualifications include a current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certificate, CPR for the Professional Rescuer Certificate and First Aid Certificate or equivalent.  Candidates will be required to successfully complete a skills test to demonstrate proficiency.  Recertifications available.  Starting wages are based on experience.

Aquatic Fitness Instructors

The Rodale Aquatic Center for Civic Health at Cedar Crest College seeks highly motivated, energetic individuals to teach aquatic fitness classes to a diverse population of students.  The Rodale Aquatic Center will train candidates in the use of new equipment and techniques.  AEA or Arthritis Foundation certification is preferred but not required.  Previous aquatic or land fitness experience desired.  Part-time openings exist for both morning and evening classes.

Red Cross Training Instrctor

The Rodale Aquatic Center at Cedar Crest College seeks highly motivated, energetic individual to teach but not limited to, Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR and AED. Be willing to work evenings and Saturday throughout the year. Must have current Red Cross certifications. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
