How
is my roommate chosen?
Over
the summer, the Office of Residence Life matches roommates according
to the answers on the housing questionnaire that each student
fills out. You are encouraged to give us as much information
as possible and to return the questionnaire promptly.
Students
who deposit on or before the deadline will receive priority in
housing assignments.
Can
I choose the residence hall I want to live in?
You
may request to live in a specific hall, but while we will try
to respect your choice, we cannot guarantee your first choice
of building.
What
are the halls like?
In
addition to the information mentioned above, ironing rooms, study
areas, vending machines and microwaves (in the kitchen facilities)
are available. Also, cable and Internet access is available
in each room. Community televisions are equipped with cable,
and long-distance phone service is offered through Resicom. Bathroom
facilities on each floor are shared.
Can
I bring things to decorate my room?
Certainly,
we want you to feel that your room is your own special place.
You are encouraged to bring anything like posters, rugs, pillows,
plants, linens, books, radios, etc. which will make your room
more personal. You can check with the Director of Residence
Life about the policy concerning building a loft or what you may
bring.
Can
I have appliances in my room?
Heavy
appliances such as air conditioners, large refrigerators, hot
plates, and electric heaters are not permitted in the residence
halls. Small refrigerators are permitted.
Can
I have a pet?
Pets
other than fish are not allowed in the residence areas for health,
comfort and sanitation reasons.
